Notarial signature verification in Israel

A notarial signature verification confirms that a specific person, whose identity I checked, signed the document in my presence. It is the most common request from banks, foreign authorities and counterparties. Done in person, at the official tariff.

What the notary certifies
The certificate confirms two things above all: the identity of the signatory and the fact that the signature was made before the notary. Before certifying, the notary must establish identity and meet the requirements of the law, but does not check or guarantee the content of the document.
If the document must be sworn rather than merely signed, that is a different act, an affidavit. Certifying a translation or a copy are also separate acts with their own tariff lines.

Why only at a meeting
The law requires the notary to establish the signatory’s identity from an identity card or passport and to be satisfied that the document is understood. I verify signatures only at a meeting: at my office in Petah Tikva or Tel Aviv, at your location, or at another agreed place in Gush Dan.
Remote verification by video is not offered on this site. If the receiving party mentions such an option, write to me and I will say whether it applies to your document.
Do not sign in advance: the signature is made in front of me. If the signatory does not read Hebrew, I explain the document in English or Russian, and the certificate records that.

- Powers of attorney for use abroad, followed by a Magistrate Court apostille.
- Bank forms, consents and statements where the bank requires a notarised signature.
- Declarations and statements for foreign authorities, embassies and employers.
- Corporate documents: minutes, resolutions, officers’ signatures for registries and tenders.
- Consent for a child to travel and other family documents when the recipient requires the notarial form.

How verification proceeds
- Document on WhatsApp. Send the document and say who requires it. I check whether a notarial signature is really needed and quote the amount.
- Meeting. We agree a time and place. Bring a valid identity card or passport and the unsigned document.
- Check and signature. I establish identity, explain the document in your language where needed, you sign in front of me, and I add the certificate, seal and signature.
- Apostille, if needed. Filing with the Magistrate Court, usually within one or two working days.
- Handover and payment. The document is delivered in person or by courier. Payment after delivery.

Frequently asked questions
- Can a signature be verified remotely or over Zoom?
- No. I verify signatures only at a meeting in person, as the law requires. The meeting can take place at my office in Petah Tikva or Tel Aviv, at your location or elsewhere in Gush Dan.
- What should I bring?
- A valid identity card or passport and the document itself, not yet signed. The signature is made in front of me.
- The signatory does not read Hebrew. Is that a problem?
- No. I explain the document in English or Russian, and the certificate records that. No interpreter is needed.
- How is signature verification different from an affidavit?
- An affidavit is sworn and has its own tariff line. Signature verification confirms identity and the fact of signing, not the content.
- How much does it cost?
- ₪197 for the first signature plus VAT under the tariff, about ₪232. With an apostille for use abroad about ₪509, including the ₪41 state fee and my ₪200 filing service, which is not part of the tariff.
